Char creation

Postby Jeffry » Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:26 pm

You will all be Lower powered Old Bloods either because you are young, untrained, or inexperienced. (lvl5 in 4th edition). Your background and such are up to you. With a city of this size anything is possible but check it with me first so I might give you any

You will find yourself in ambervale where there is alot of activity. All of the major houses are planning settlements and expedition into the "wild west" the town is thick with settlers mercenaries, knightss soldier, and merchents. The House Durai is about to set off to found a settlements. It will be the furthest west of a group of new settlements over a 3 week march into the frontier. You are here to become part of that settlement. Either as part of the Durai noble house, a mercenary hiered by the young noble leading the venture. You could also be a reprentitive or a holy man sent on behalf of the King.

So Wizards messed up their character levels and their monster level maths, and fixed it with a feat series called Expertise.

These give every class a +1 bonus to hit with whatever implement/weapon/whatever they hit with that scales up and usually has good secondary benefits. The reason I mention this is that this series of feats is what everyone should take. Just look up the word expertise when searching for a feat in the char creator and take a look.

If I'm going to create a super amazing healer, I won't be doing any damage during fights. So it'll be up to you guys to make sure your hits land and deal as much damage as possible before I run out of heals.

Also, warpriests are tough (and I'm spec'ing him to have higher than normal "leader" defenses), but they aren't sticky like tanks. Hopefully we have enough controllers to ensure enemies stay where they're supposed to.

One note i wanted to make about char creation. Magic items , especially powerful ones are rare and ancient in this world. You can still pick them as normal (1 lvl 5, 1 lvl4, 1 lvl6) but each item will be important to you either in value and/or history. this does not include potions which are still readily available.

I can't really pick the best and most meaningful magic items on account of my hands. Way too much mousing for that and I'm not particularly happy with the ones I've already chosen. You can take a look at my character and see. The only one that really speaks to my character's background is the luck charm.

When more than one of us is accessing the char creator, be sure to save the other guy's progress. I've have to make a char from scratch already.

Errors happen when (I'm guessing) more than one of us is using the account at once.

No worries. I'm probably going to scrap that character anyways and go striker. I figure, less heals means faster combat.

Jeffry, will you let us use themes or backgrounds?

Themes give us powers (sometimes optional ones that replace power choices).

Backgrounds give us +2 to a skill or allows us to train in a skill that is outside of our class choices.

RP-wise, they are flavory rp treats.

Yeah, I used a Scholar background which goes perfectly with my character. He was a wizard's apprentice and all he did was read, consequently, all of his feats apply to skills.
